Last week Sarajevo and OPEN NETWORK was visited by the team of best European and world nephrologists from France and Spain. Professor Lionel Rostaing, head of nephrology-transplantology department in University clinical center of Grenoble (France) and doctor Fritz Diekman, chief of Nephrology-transplantology departments in University clinical center in Barcelona (Spain) came to Sarajevo, but this time to see new patients who are having potential donors and who are candidates for a special program of different blood types, as well as patients who have been successfully transplanted in Toulouse within our program. .
Like every time, they examined patients from all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina – so we had patients from Brcko, Banja Luka, Sarajevo, Vares, Prijedor, Teslic … Special transplantation program of different blood types and its realization and success brought us stories in the past two years who are inspiration and motivation for a large number of patients and donors who occurred in this program wanting to help other human beings, and didn’t had a chance to do it in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Mothers and fathers who want to donate a kidney to their children, as well as wives and friends – all these are stories whose ability to donate are considered by doctors from France and Spain, and they all will be implemented.
Particularly emotional was the meeting of Professor Rostaing and transplanted patients, first cadaveric transplanted patients in this program, but also the first cases of transplanted patients with living donors of different blood types. Professor Rostaing was glad to see that both, patients and donors are good – the first wives who donated kidneys to their husbands, Sanela Hajro, Lejla Semic, Safeta Zubanovic, Snjezana Muratovic feel great. Alma Smajic, one of the first cadaveric transplanted patients is first woman who gave birth to twins in B&H and she feels great, as well as the babies who are excellent. Our kid Faris Sestic who got kidney from his mother Enesa, is also excellent. It was nice to see them all in one place together, new families, families that got their mothers and fathers back, the people who work again and have a smile on their faces …
In the future this program will go on until the transplantations becomes reality in B&H. We prepare new projects and we will not give up until together with the state funds and ministries we create educations and other programs that will bring this story possible in B&H.
Let’s go further!
