Immediately after leaving the hospital after vascular surgery French Nephrology-transplantology center of hospital “Pasteur” in Nice, where doctors managed to establish vascular access for dialysis for 33 years old beneficiaries of transplantation program of OPEN NETWORK, Asim Zero from Sarajevo, coordinator of OPEN NETWORK Natasa BuljeviC, recorded an unusual photo of Asima and she shortly before taking photo said, “People, this is first time in my life that I see the sea.”
This girl, entered dialyses center in the country called Bosnia and Herzegovina, when she was only 12 years old, and could not travel as large number of other dialysis patients because she had to be connected to machine in hospital that kept her alive every second day. The country called Bosnia and Herzegovina does not have an active approach to medicine that in European centers exists for 60 years – they do not have an active approach to transplantation medicine that can return dialysis patients to normal life. The country called Bosnia and Herzegovina have a 33 year old Asim Zero and she is over twenty years on dialysis and she never never have seen the sea. The country called Bosnia and Herzegovina has Asim and members of her family would be happy to be a kidney donors despite different blood types, but since she lives in a country called Bosnia and Herzegovina such transplant is not possible to be done here. In country called Bosnia and Herzegovina you have citizens who lost their battles for life and therefore they can be organ donors, but in the country called Bosnia and Herzegovina there is no intensive care units to establish brain death, that can lead to cadaver transplantations. The country called Bosnia and Herzegovina has Asim Zero who never saw the sea and that is largest “symbol” of transplantation medicine in B&H.
Asim Zero, always be aware that we love you most in the world and together we will help you to come to your story about the transplant and you will see the sea as many times as you want – your OPEN NETWORK and citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina!
